About Us

The Flash2Pass™ garage door opener was developed from my real life experiences.

It started when my sister had her first child and like most moms, her life was quite hectic. One day after she backed out of the garage, she was looking around her car for the remote to close the door. As she glanced in the back seat she noticed her toddler happily dunking the remote in a cup of juice. That day, she bought her first replacement remote for close to $50. A few weeks later, driving her dog to the vet, she heard a crunching noise from the back of her Jeep. She looked in the rear view mirror and saw the dog making a chew toy out of the recently replaced remote. She decided that spending $100 in one month on replacement remotes was ridiculous and began opening and closing the garage door the old fashioned way…by calling her husband to do it manually!

Other experiences followed.... A friend who clipped her remote to the visor of her Oldsmobile, noticed the visor was getting chewed up by the clip on the remote. She went to the local dealer and bought a new visor…for almost $200! Of course at that point she wasn’t about to repeat her mistake, which caused the remote to take on a life of its own as it wandered all over the car from under the seat to the glove box to parts unknown.

Living in Los Angeles at the time, there were a slew of burglaries committed by criminals who would walk through neighborhoods and steal remotes that were in cars parked in their respective driveways and left unlocked. The burglar knew the location of the home, had access to it, and waited for the car to leave to have the opportunity.

There had to be a better way! And so was born the Flash2Pass™. People often ask, “What exactly does Flash2Pass™ mean?” Well, the name is a play on the function of the device as well as the way it is actuated.

The turn signal lever, which in the automotive world is known as a “multi-function” switch, has as one of its “functions”, an operation known as a “flash to drivers to “flash” a slower moving car to move over. The driver of the approaching vehicle simply pulses the lever back, which flashes the headlight high beams, and wakes up the unwary driver to traffic behind him.

The Flash2Pass™ transmitter is activated using the headlight high beam switch, or “flash to pass”. It is necessary to flash it twice, once to power the radio frequency transmitter that is hidden under the hood, and the second time to send the radio signal to open or close the garage door. Hence the number “2” in the name.

Today, we manufacture the Flash2Pass™ system for individual homeowners and the F2P ICAS™ for gated communities. The F2P ICAS™ allows all the residents to activate the gate, but also lets them open their individual garage doors as well…all with a double flash of their high beams! Our systems are compatible with most controlled access parking systems for parking lots, underground garages, and fleet management.
